Hornbeam Park

Kindercare at Hornbeam Park, which opened on 9 September 2002, is the fourth of our nurseries to open in the Harrogate area. With 140 places it is also our largest to date and provides care for children aged 12 weeks to 5 years all year round, exclusive only of Bank and Public Holidays.

The same opening hours and fee structure apply as at our other Harrogate nurseries with food provided for all children from six months upwards. The first of our nurseries to be constructed completely to our specifications, the design ensures maximum space, light and freedom of movement for all.

Each of our nurseries delivers the Early Years Foundation Stage which covers all those children from birth to five.

The ground floor houses those children aged between 12 weeks and 3 years approximately. The pre-school children aged 3 years upwards have their own garden/play area.

The sections on the ground floor are split into several rooms. The Tinies being made up of 4 rooms with nine babies in each, designed to have direct access to their outside play area, with a covered area for prams and push chairs. Nappy-changing and milk-rooms link the rooms.

The Tweenie children have two large playrooms (24 in each), again with direct access to their own play area.

The playrooms each incorporate a messy area and quiet area, allowing freedom of choice for the children in their daily activities. There is a large toilet/changing area situated between the rooms, ensuring that staffing is monitored at all times.

Completing the lower floor is a handcrafted soft playroom situated at the entrance to the building, incorporating a ball pool and soft play equipment specifically designed to the highest safety standards. On the upper floor our Starters (pre-school) children benefit from views from three sides of the building. The spacious playrooms again incorporate messy and quiet play, with a separate classroom.

Other facilities of the nursery include a full catering kitchen, laundry room, lift to the upper floor and full security entry system for persons entering the building. The Nursery Manager’s office is situated in the reception area of the building and the upper floor houses the suite of offices to incorporate the nursery’s Head Office, which moved from our Pannal Ash site in September 2002. The staff facilities make up the space on the upper floor, together with storage space.

To the outside of the nursery are the children’s play areas, separated into sections according to the age of the child. All the play areas are made up of Kid Fall (Little Tikes) safer surfacing, with the Starters children having an additional grassed area, which may be shared by the younger ones for picnics etc.

All the children enjoy extensive outdoor equipment, including fixed activity centres specifically designed for their age group.

Plentiful parking for parents and visitors is at the front of the building, reached by turning right off Hornbeam Park Avenue just after the Park Hotel.
